NoticeCheck

FAQ

Is this legal or tax advice? Are you a law firm or CPA firm?
No, on every count. NoticeCheck prepares self-help documents — it is not a law firm, CPA firm, or enrolled agent; it provides no legal or tax advice; and it never represents anyone before the IRS. You review, sign, and send everything personally, following the instructions printed on your own notice. For advice about your specific situation, consult a licensed professional — and in several situations (see below) we refuse the sale and tell you to do exactly that.
Will you ever ask for my Social Security number?
Never. The intake is typed answers only — no SSN, no document uploads, no logins. The finished letter carries an SSN blank you fill in by hand before mailing; the pack explains that’s deliberate. Any site that asks for your SSN to “help with an IRS notice” deserves your suspicion.
Do you promise the IRS will accept my response or remove my penalty?
No — and we never will. Nobody outside the IRS can promise what the IRS will do. What the pack does is procedural: your response follows the response process printed for your notice type, every deadline and rule traces to the IRS’s own published pages, and the penalty-relief request (where one applies) is the one the published rules actually allow for your notice and history. What happens next is the IRS’s decision.
Which notices are covered?
Response packs currently cover CP2000, CP2501, CP14, CP501, CP503, and CP504 — the income-matching proposals and the balance-due ladder, which are the highest-volume notices people respond to by mail. Each has a free decoder page under /notices. We add codes by verifying their mechanics against the IRS’s own pages, never by guessing.
When will you refuse to sell me a pack?
Before payment, whenever your answers show a situation where self-help is the wrong tool: income from a payer you never worked with (possible identity theft), a Statutory Notice of Deficiency already received, criminal-investigation language in any IRS letter, numbers you can’t trace at all, a business return under examination, or more than $25,000 at stake. In each case you get honest guidance on the kind of professional to hire — and no charge.
What exactly is in the $149 pack?
Eight sections, delivered as a private hosted page and a printable PDF: your notice and situation restated in plain English, a recommended path, a print-and-sign response letter matching your notice’s response process, an evidence checklist for your discrepancy type, a penalty-relief screen (the request the rules allow, or an honest “nothing applies”), send instructions, a what-happens-next branch map, and the stop-and-hire-a-professional triggers for your notice. Plus deadline reminder emails at 14 and 5 days before your printed deadline until you click “I’ve mailed it.”
Where do I send my response? Do you mail it for me?
You mail it yourself — we never contact the IRS. The pack’s send instructions always point to the address or fax printed on page 1 of your own notice, because IRS response addresses vary by processing site. We deliberately never print an IRS address: the one on your notice is the only one that’s right for you.
How fast does the pack arrive?
Usually within about ten minutes of checkout. The pack page shows live progress while your sections are generated and checked, and the finished pack also goes to your email. If generation can’t produce a pack that passes our quality checks, you’re refunded automatically.
What do you do with my answers?
The free decoder stores nothing at all. If you buy a pack, your typed answers are used to generate it and are kept with your order so you can re-open the pack. We never sell your data. Details in the privacy policy.
What's your refund policy?
Two automatic paths from your pack page: if our pipeline couldn’t produce a pack that passed its quality checks, the refund is automatic (and issued without you asking, when generation fails); and if our logs show you never opened or downloaded the pack after delivery, you can refund within 30 days. Both run through Stripe from the pack page — no email required. Outside those paths, email noticecheck@forage.botand we’ll look at it case-by-case. The full clause is in the Terms.
My deadline already passed. Can you still help?
The decoder pages explain, for each notice, what the IRS says happens after the printed date — for the income-matching proposals that’s a Statutory Notice of Deficiency with a strict 90-day Tax Court window, which is a hire-a-professional moment, not a self-help one. If you’ve already received that statutory notice, our intake will refuse the sale and say so.
